The Big Apple Coaster

This is the classic Strip roller coaster that wraps around the New York-New York skyline, complete with a stomach-flipping “heartline” twist-and-dive. It’s fast, it’s loud, and it’s the ride teens ask to go on twice. Riders need to meet the posted height requirement. Tip: Grab a single-ride ticket first to test the waters, then decide if you want the all-day re-ride wristband.

Thrill Rides at The STRAT

Perched on top of the STRAT tower are some of the highest thrill rides in the country — think a launch ride that shoots you skyward, a spinning ride that leans you out over the edge, and a controlled bungee-style jump for the truly brave. The views alone are worth the elevator ride up. Tip: Height and health restrictions apply to each ride, so check the official SkyPod requirements before you buy.

The High Roller Observation Wheel

At 550 feet, the High Roller is one of the tallest observation wheels in the world, and each glass cabin holds a whole group. A single rotation takes about half an hour, so it’s a calm, panoramic break from the chaos of the Strip — and a genuinely great photo spot at sunset. Tip: Book a daytime and a nighttime slot if you can; the city looks like two different places.

SlotZilla Zip Line & Fremont Street

Downtown’s Fremont Street Experience is a covered pedestrian canyon with live bands, street performers, and a giant overhead video canopy. The showpiece for teens is SlotZilla — zip lines that launch you out of a 12-story slot machine and fly you down the whole street. Tip: There’s no age minimum but there is a weight range, so check the official requirements before you get in line.

AREA15

If your teen loves anything neon, surreal, or Instagram-worthy, AREA15 is the spot. This immersive entertainment district is packed with interactive art, walk-through experiences, games, and rotating attractions that change from visit to visit. It’s the kind of place where a “quick stop” turns into a couple of hours. Tip: Entry to the district is easy, but individual experiences inside are ticketed separately — check what’s running before you go.

Shark Reef Aquarium

Tucked inside Mandalay Bay, Shark Reef walks you through a glass tunnel surrounded by sharks, rays, a sunken-ship habitat, and a touch pool. It’s air-conditioned, self-paced, and a nice reset on a scorching afternoon. Teens who think they’re “too cool” for an aquarium usually change their minds at the shark tunnel. Tip: Hours and pricing vary — check the official Mandalay Bay site and consider a timed ticket to skip the wait.

The Mob Museum

Housed in a former federal courthouse, the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement tells the real story of the mob, the FBI, and Las Vegas across several floors of interactive exhibits. It’s genuinely gripping for older kids who like true-crime and history. Tip: Pair it with a walk over to Fremont Street since they’re just a couple of blocks apart.

Blue Man Group

If you want one show that works for a whole family with teens, this is my go-to. Blue Man Group blends music, comedy, and wild visual effects into a high-energy performance with no dialogue to age out of — it just works. It’s family-friendly, so teenagers can be admitted per the venue’s policy. Tip: Seats closer to the stage sometimes fall in the “splash zone,” which teens love — ask when you book.

The Bellagio Fountains

The Fountains of Bellagio are still the best free show in town — hundreds of jets choreographed to music, dancing over an eight-acre lake in front of the resort. They run on a set schedule through the day and into the night, and even teens who “don’t do touristy” stop to watch. Tip: Watch from the sidewalk railing for the classic view, or catch it from up high on a nearby observation deck.

Ethel M Chocolate Factory & Cactus Garden

You can peek at the chocolate-making through the factory windows, then wander a big botanical cactus garden right outside — especially pretty when it’s lit up during the holidays. It’s a relaxed, tasty change of pace from the Strip. Tip: Self-guided viewing is free; paid tastings and classes are also offered, so check the official site for current options.

Red Rock Canyon

Just outside the city, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area trades neon for towering red sandstone, hiking trails, and easy scenic-drive pullouts. It’s the perfect half-day for teens who need to burn off energy outdoors, plus rock scrambling and photo spots everywhere. Tip: The Scenic Drive requires a timed-entry reservation from October through May — book yours on the official Red Rock Canyon site before you drive out.

Hoover Dam

This Art Deco engineering marvel straddles the Nevada-Arizona line, and the tours down into the dam let teens see the power-plant generators up close. Walk across the nearby bridge for a jaw-dropping view of the whole structure and the Colorado River far below. Tip: Tour options and hours change seasonally, so check the official Bureau of Reclamation site — and go early to beat the heat and the crowds.
