The best shows in Las Vegas right now
Vegas shows turn over faster than almost anything else in this city, and half the lists you will find still sell tickets to something that closed. Start with the board below. It is the whole marquee, current as of this month.
Every show that matters, and its actual status
One board instead of forty paragraphs. If a show is not on this list, it is either brand new or it is gone.
“Add to list” means it is running and worth your night but has never appeared on the roundups people keep sending me. Those three are the ones locals actually recommend.
I’ve lived in Las Vegas since I was five, and the single most common thing I hear from visitors is that somebody told them to see a show that no longer exists. LOVE is gone with the Mirage. Le Rêve is gone. Copperfield finished in April after twenty-five years.
So the honest version of this page is not a ranking. It is a status check first, then the handful I would actually put my own guests in front of.
The show people talk about at breakfast
Absinthe
Filthy, hilarious, and performed close enough that the front row is genuinely part of the act. It is the one almost everybody names first, and the one that ruins other variety shows for you afterward.
Two things to plan around. It is strictly 18 and over and the door enforces it, so it cannot be the group show if anyone is younger. And it goes dark November 16 to 29, 2026 while the Spiegeltent gets upgrades, timed to F1 week.

Mandalay Bay · CirqueLori’s PickMichael Jackson ONE
Built on the catalog, with the best sound design of any theater on the Strip. The easiest one to bring somebody who thinks they do not like Cirque.
Bellagio · Cirque“O” by Cirque du Soleil
Performed in, on and above a 1.5 million gallon pool. Still the bucket-list Vegas production, and the one out-of-town guests ask about first.
Treasure Island · CirqueMystère
The original Vegas Cirque show, running since 1993. Colorful, acrobatic, and the friendliest of the four for kids and first-timers.
MGM Grand · CirqueKÀ
Staged on a platform that rotates and tilts vertical. If you like theater more than circus, this is your Cirque show.
The LINQ · MagicLori’s PickMat Franco, Magic Reinvented Nightly
The America’s Got Talent winner, working close and warm in his own theater. With Copperfield gone, this is the Strip magic show I send people to.
Luxor · Family friendlyBlue Man Group
Drums, paint, PVC pipe and no dialogue at all. The one show where language, age and jet lag genuinely do not matter.
Planet Hollywood · DivisiveCriss Angel MINDFREAK
Big illusions and a rating that splits straight down the middle. Read my honest write-up before you buy this one, not after.
Paranormal, The Mindreading Magic Show
Frederic Da Silva reads the room in the Imagine Showroom. The highest-rated show on this entire page, and almost nobody books it.
Piff the Magic Dragon
A grumpy man in a dragon suit with a chihuahua named Mr Piffles. Sounds ridiculous, is genuinely funny, and rates higher than most of the big productions.
Jabbawockeez: FREQNCY
The masked crew relaunched in October 2025 with a brand-new production made with Timbaland. Shorter than a Cirque show if your night is packed.

Four things that decide whether the night lands
None of these are on the ticket page, and all four of them ruin evenings.
Almost every show goes dark two nights a week
And the nights differ by production. Check the actual calendar for your dates before you build the rest of the trip around a show. This is the single most common way people end up with a free evening they did not plan for.
Age policies are enforced at the door
Absinthe is 18 and over and they do check. Several others set a minimum around five and will not seat a lap infant. If you are traveling with kids, Mystère and Blue Man Group are the safe picks.
The cheap seats are not always the wrong seats
In KÀ and “O” the staging is enormous and sitting too close costs you the whole picture. In Absinthe and Mat Franco the opposite is true, and the back of the room loses the thing that makes it work.
If the resort name looks wrong, it is
The Strip is full of booths and resale listings still selling shows that closed, and old listings that name the wrong theater. Criss Angel is at Planet Hollywood, not the Luxor. Blue Man Group is at the Luxor, not the Venetian. Match the venue before you pay.
Who is actually in your group?
This decides more than genre does. Start here and the list gets short fast.
Adults only, and glad about it
- Go seeAbsinthe at Caesars Palace, first and last
- ThenPenn & Teller at the Rio for something smarter and slower
- OrParanormal at Horseshoe, mentalism in a small room
- SkipAnything sold as family friendly. You will feel it
- NoteAbsinthe is dark November 16 to 29, 2026
Kids, grandparents, mixed ages
- Go seeBlue Man Group at the Luxor. No dialogue at all
- ThenMystère at Treasure Island, the friendliest Cirque
- OrMat Franco at The LINQ if the group likes magic
- SkipAbsinthe. Genuinely, do not test the door policy
- NoteCheck each show’s current minimum age, they change
What closed, and what is closing next
This is where most bad Vegas show advice comes from. All three of these are dated and confirmed.
Cirque confirmed the closure in August 2026. Ticket holders booked past that date are being contacted about refunds or exchanges, and no replacement show has been named. After it goes, Cirque runs four resident productions here: Mystère, “O”, KÀ and Michael Jackson ONE.
Twenty-five years, finished. No new Las Vegas venue has been announced, and the theater has been renamed the MGM Grand Theater. If magic was the reason you were booking, Mat Franco at The LINQ is the closest thing the Strip has right now. Full story here.
The Beatles LOVE closed with the Mirage in 2024. Zumanity, Le Rêve at Wynn, Jersey Boys, Rock of Ages, Terry Fator’s Mirage run and Raiding the Rock Vault have all ended. If somebody recommended one of those, this page has what is playing instead.
Blue Man Group is at the Luxor. Criss Angel’s “Believe” became MINDFREAK and plays the Criss Angel Theater at Planet Hollywood, not the Luxor. Jabbawockeez perform at MGM Grand. Plenty of listings still carry the old venue, so check the ticket.
Which show fits your night?
| Show | Venue | Kind of night | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Absinthe | Caesars Palace | Raunchy circus cabaret | Adults, bachelor and bachelorette groups |
| “O” | Bellagio | Aquatic Cirque spectacle | The one big splurge of the trip |
| KÀ | MGM Grand | Story-driven Cirque epic | Theater people, ambitious staging |
| Michael Jackson ONE | Mandalay Bay | Music-first Cirque | Anyone who loves the catalog |
| Mystère | Treasure Island | Classic acrobatic Cirque | First-timers and mixed-age groups |
| Blue Man Group | Luxor | Wordless music and comedy | Kids, international visitors |
| Mat Franco | The LINQ | Close-up magic | Magic fans since Copperfield closed |
| Penn & Teller | Rio | Magic and comedy | Repeat visitors, an off-Strip evening |
| Paranormal | Horseshoe | Mentalism | Small rooms, the best rating in town |
The most common thing I hear from visitors is that somebody told them to see a show that no longer exists.
Lori Ballen · lifelong Las VeganBefore you book
What is the best show in Las Vegas right now?
For classic Vegas spectacle, “O” at Bellagio is still the answer. For the show people talk about at breakfast the next morning, it is Absinthe, as long as everyone in your group is 18 or older. For magic, Mat Franco at The LINQ took that spot when Copperfield closed.
Is Mad Apple closing?
Yes. Cirque du Soleil confirmed the final performance at New York-New York is September 5, 2026. Ticket holders with dates after that are being contacted about refunds or exchanges, and no replacement has been announced. Cirque continues to run Mystère, “O”, KÀ and Michael Jackson ONE here.
Is David Copperfield still performing in Las Vegas?
No. His 25-year residency at MGM Grand ended with a final performance on April 30, 2026, and no new Las Vegas venue has been announced. Here is the full story and where to see magic instead.
Which Las Vegas show is best for kids?
Blue Man Group at the Luxor and Mystère at Treasure Island. Blue Man Group has no dialogue at all, which also makes it the pick if English is not your first language. Check each show’s current minimum age when you book, since they do change.
Where is Criss Angel performing?
At the Criss Angel Theater inside Planet Hollywood, not the Luxor. The old Luxor listing still circulates and it sends people to the wrong end of the Strip. My honest look at MINDFREAK covers what fans love and what the complaints actually say.
How far ahead should I buy tickets?
A few weeks out is comfortable for a specific date and a decent seat. Holiday weekends, F1 week in November and big fight nights are the exceptions and those sell out early across the whole Strip. Same-day seats exist, but you take what is left.
