Nomikai: Sushi Counter Up Front, Speakeasy in Back
I’ve lived here since I was five, and Nomikai is one of the newest additions to the Strip’s hidden-bar scene, a Tokyo-inspired sushi spot on Restaurant Row with a dim, moody lounge tucked behind it.
Nomikai sits on Restaurant Row at The Venetian, and it’s really two experiences in one address. Up front, a fast, casual counter serves Tokyo-style handrolls, poke, and sake. Step through a hidden hallway in back and the whole mood shifts into a dim, intimate speakeasy with premium sushi, rare Japanese whisky, and cocktails built around the same after-hours energy as the rest of this list.
It’s a newer name than most Vegas speakeasies, having opened in 2025, but it’s already picked up a Silver award for Best Sushi and a following for the whisky list specifically. The space is small, so it’s a good pick for a quiet date night rather than a big group outing.
Reserve ahead, it’s a small room
The speakeasy side seats a limited number of guests, and it fills up on weekends. Book through the official reservation system rather than counting on a walk-in table.

How the night actually works
Enter through the sushi counter
Walk into Nomikai on Restaurant Row like any other sushi spot, the front counter is open and casual.
Look for the hidden hallway
The entrance to the speakeasy is tucked discreetly off the main dining area.
Confirm your reservation
Since seating is limited, arrive close to your booked time to hold your table.
Order the whisky flight
The rare Japanese whisky list is the specialty here, ask the bartender for a recommendation if you’re new to it.
This is the newest name on my list, and it earned its spot fast. The whisky program alone is worth the visit.
