Ghost Donkey: push the little green door
A tiny mezcal and tequila bar hidden at the back of a food hall on the Strip, with string lights, a red glow, and truffle nachos locals will argue about.
The door is the whole trick
Block 16 Urban Food Hall, Level 2, Boulevard TowerGhost Donkey is not guarded and there is no list. It is a plain green service-looking door along the back wall of the Block 16 food hall, marked with a small white donkey. It looks like a door you are not supposed to open. Open it anyway.
On the other side is a small room with a low red glow, string lights, and murals, packed with people who found the same door. It reads more New York than Las Vegas Strip, which is exactly why I like sending people there.
The bar started in New York and the Vegas room kept the spirit of it. The agave list is deep, the bartenders are happy to talk you through it, and nobody makes you feel like you are being tested at the door.
The Cosmopolitan quietly runs three hidden bars, and Ghost Donkey is the easiest of the three to get into. That is its advantage. You do not need a reservation, you do not need a password, and it opens earlier than the other two.
It is also the smallest, so the earlier you show up the better your night goes.
A short plan that works every time
The room typically opens in the late afternoon. Arriving right at open is how you get a seat at the bar instead of a wall spot.
From the casino floor, follow signs to the Chandelier Bar and go up one level to Block 16.
Walk past the food stalls into the seating area. The green door with the donkey is along the back.
The entire program is built on mezcal, tequila, and their rarer cousins. Ordering off that list is the point.
The truffle nachos have a real local following, and they are the right size to share while you wait for a seat.
Two to four people is the sweet spot. A group of eight will end up standing in shifts.
What to know before you go
Level 2 of the Boulevard Tower, behind Block 16 Urban Food Hall, 3708 S Las Vegas Blvd.
Walk-in only. There is no list and no way to hold a table, so timing is your only lever.
It has generally opened in the late afternoon and run to around midnight, but hours have changed more than once. Confirm on the day.
Nothing strict. Resort casual fits the room; skip swimwear and you will not feel out of place.
It is a small bar with limited seating, which is what makes it feel like a find in the first place.

Say what you like, not what you know
Smoky or bright, spirit-forward or refreshing. That is all the bartender needs to steer you well.
Try a flight if you are new to mezcal
Tasting three side by side teaches you more in ten minutes than a year of ordering blind.
Ask about sotol and raicilla
The rarer agave relatives on the list are where the fun is, and they are usually happy to pour a taste.
Pair it with food
The nachos exist for a reason. Mezcal drinks hit harder on an empty stomach than people expect.
Go early
It is the earliest-opening of the three Cosmopolitan hidden bars, which makes it a great first stop.
No gatekeeping
No password, no host, no bouncer. Push the door and walk in.

If you do not like smoky spirits, tell them. There is plenty on the list that is not.
