Strip House at Planet Hollywood: What to Know Before You Go

Deep red walls, a wickedly glamorous room, and one of the best birthday desserts on the Strip.

I have celebrated more than one birthday in that dim red dining room, and Strip House still gets my recommendation every time someone asks where to go for a steak dinner with a little wicked glamour attached. It is tucked into the mezzanine level at Planet Hollywood, easy to combine with a show on the same trip, and the vibe alone makes a birthday feel like an occasion the moment you walk in. If you only remember one thing, remember the cake.

The Vibe

Deep red, moody, a little wicked

Strip House leans into its name with dark red walls, low mood lighting, and vintage burlesque style photography on the walls. It reads more like a supper club than a standard hotel steakhouse, which is exactly why it works so well for a birthday. Business casual is the norm, and the room still manages to feel like a night out rather than just dinner.

What to Order

The steaks, and then the cake

This is a proper steakhouse menu: New York strip, filet mignon, and bone-in ribeye, along with truffle creamed spinach and goose fat potatoes that both deserve a spot on the table. The raw bar and jumbo crab cakes are worth a look if you want to start light before the main event.

The birthday move: the 24 layer chocolate cake is one of the great birthday desserts in the city. One slice genuinely feeds the whole table, but I always tell people to order two anyway. Nobody has ever regretted it.
