Sparrow + Wolf: What to Know Before You Go

A live-fire, globally-inspired kitchen in the heart of Chinatown that makes for one of the most exciting birthday dinners in the valley.

I have lived in Las Vegas since I was five, and one of my favorite things is sending visitors and neighbors alike off the Strip to Chinatown. Sparrow + Wolf is the spot I bring up first when someone tells me they actually care about food, not just a view. Chef Brian Howard built a room that feels like a party and a kitchen that never stops moving, and it has become one of my go-to picks for a birthday dinner that people talk about for weeks.

Want more off-Strip food picks like this one sent straight to your inbox? I share the spots I actually love, not just the ones everyone already knows about.

The Vibe

One of the liveliest rooms in the valley

Sparrow + Wolf sits right on Spring Mountain Road in the heart of Chinatown, and the energy inside matches the neighborhood outside. The open kitchen runs on live-fire cooking, so you can watch the action while you eat. It is loud in the best way, casual enough for a weeknight and special enough for a milestone birthday.

What to Order

Global flavors, one plate at a time

Chef Howard’s menu pulls from all over the map, and it changes with the seasons, so ask your server what just came off the fire. The kitchen is known for its wood-fired, global-influenced small plates meant for sharing, which makes it an easy pick for a group birthday table where everyone wants to try a little of everything.

Before You Go

Address, hours, and reservations

Address: 4480 Spring Mountain Road, Suite 100, Las Vegas, NV 89102

Hours: Open daily, 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Reservations: Recommended, especially on weekends, since this is one of the busiest tables in Chinatown.

My tip: This is my top birthday pick for a true food person, full stop. Chef Howard has been recognized as a James Beard Award finalist for Best Chef: Southwest again in 2026, and it shows on the plate.

This is one of my 39 favorite spots in my Las Vegas birthday dinner guide, and honestly, it might be my personal favorite of the whole list.
