The Golden Tiki in Chinatown: What to Know Before You Go
A windowless, open-24-hours tiki wonderland with animatronic surprises, celebrity shrunken heads, and strong drinks in skull mugs.
Pair It With ChinatownThe Golden Tiki is the kind of place I bring people when I want to watch their face the moment they walk in. There are no windows, no clocks, and somewhere in that dark, jungle-thick room an animatronic gorilla or pirate might catch you off guard. It has been a Chinatown institution for years now, and it just went through a menu refresh this summer, so even my regulars have something new to try.

The Vibe
Animatronics, Shrunken Heads, and Skull Mugs
This is more bar than dinner spot, so my advice is to eat in Chinatown first and land here for the party. It is open around the clock and the room is packed with celebrity shrunken heads, animatronic surprises, and enough tiki decor to keep you looking around for an hour before your first drink even arrives.
What to Order
Something Strong in a Skull Mug
Order whatever comes in a skull mug for the birthday person, it is the obvious photo moment. The bar refreshed its cocktail and food menu this summer, so ask your bartender what’s new if you have been before, there are light bites now to go with the tropical drinks.
Before You Go
The Golden Tiki
Where: 3939 W Spring Mountain Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89102, in the heart of Chinatown.
Hours: Open 24 hours, every day. It is 21 and up, and you need a physical, valid ID to get in, no digital IDs accepted.
Reservations: Not typically needed for a casual visit, but larger birthday groups should call ahead, since it can get crowded on weekend nights.
This is one of my 39 favorite spots in my Las Vegas birthday dinner guide, and it is the pick for the friend who wants their birthday to feel like an adventure.
