Ethel M Chocolate Factory & Cactus Garden
Free chocolate making, free samples, and one of the largest cactus gardens in the state, all at one easy Henderson stop.
This is one of those spots I love sending people to because it feels like a hidden gem even though it has been here for decades. I have lived in Las Vegas my whole life and Ethel M is one of those places locals take for granted until they bring a visitor along and watch their face light up over free chocolate and a giant cactus garden in the middle of the desert. It is an easy pairing with anything else you are doing in Henderson.

What It Is
A Working Chocolate Factory You Can Actually Watch
Ethel M is a real, working chocolate factory in Henderson, not just a gift shop with a cute name. There is a self-guided viewing aisle where you can watch the production floor through big windows and see chocolates being made and packaged in small batches, right down the road from the Strip. It is low key, it is free, and it does not feel like a tourist trap.
Samples, a Chocolate Shop, and a Botanical Cactus Garden
Everyone gets a free chocolate sample when you walk in, which is honestly reason enough to stop. Beyond that, there is a full retail shop if you want to take some home, and right outside is the Ethel M Botanical Cactus Garden, home to hundreds of species of cactus and desert plants spread across several acres. It is one of the largest cactus gardens in Nevada and a genuinely pretty walk, especially in the cooler fall weather.
Fall Timing
Fall Is the Sweet Spot for the Garden
The cactus garden is outdoors and completely exposed to the desert sun, so once our summer heat breaks in the fall, it becomes a genuinely pleasant place to walk around rather than something you rush through. I always tell people fall through spring is the best window to actually enjoy the garden part of the visit, though the factory viewing and chocolate shop are comfortable indoors year round. Note that the garden also gets a festive holiday lighting display later in the year, which is worth a separate trip once that goes up.
Before You Go
2 Cactus Garden Drive, Henderson
Ethel M is located at 2 Cactus Garden Drive in Henderson, roughly 15 to 20 minutes from the Strip depending on traffic. The store and garden are typically open daily from about 9:30am to 6:30pm, though the factory production viewing window is generally weekdays during business hours since that is when the production line is actually running. I always recommend double checking current hours on Ethel M’s own website before you go, since hours can shift around holidays.
Free Admission, Free Parking
Both the factory viewing and the cactus garden are free to visit, with no ticket or reservation required, and there is a free parking lot right on site. Plan for maybe 45 minutes to an hour if you want to see the factory windows, grab a sample, browse the shop, and walk the full garden.
Easy to Pair With Other Henderson Stops
Ethel M sits right near Green Valley Ranch and a handful of other Henderson attractions, so it is easy to make it one stop on a bigger day out rather than a whole trip on its own. It is also a genuinely fun, low cost stop with kids since there is no entry fee and everyone gets a treat on the way in.
This is one of my favorite fall picks in my Las Vegas fall things-to-do guide.
