Walk through a working pawn shop and into one of the most fun, shareable-plates rooms on the Strip, made for a birthday crowd that wants a little glamour with their appetizers.
I still remember the first time I walked into Beauty & Essex. You step through what looks like a real pawn shop, cases of jewelry and all, and then a door opens into this lush, moody room that feels like a secret. I have taken more than one birthday group here and it never fails to get a reaction. It is not where I would plan a full sit down dinner for a big party, but for a stop that feels like an event in itself, it is one of my favorites in Las Vegas.

Lower East Side Grit Meets Vegas Glamour
You enter through an actual pawn shop storefront, then the space opens into a series of moody, jewel box style rooms with a speakeasy feel. It is dim, a little theatrical, and genuinely fun to explore with a group. It reads more like a lively lounge with incredible food than a quiet sit down dinner spot, which is exactly why it works so well for a birthday crowd that wants energy.
Start With the Grilled Cheese
Order the grilled cheese with smoked bacon and the tomato soup dumplings first, every time. Beyond that, the lobster bao buns with Calabrian chili aioli and the tuna poke wonton tacos from the raw bar are both built for sharing around the table, which is the whole point of a night here.
Address, Hours, and Dress
Beauty & Essex sits on Level 3 of the Boulevard Tower at The Cosmopolitan, 3708 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109. Social hour runs in the bar area Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 7pm, and dinner service runs Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 10pm and Friday and Saturday from 5 to 11pm.
There is no strict dress code, but the room leans upscale casual. Think nice jeans with a collared shirt for the guys, a nice top for the girls, and skip the athletic wear, flip flops, and baseball caps.
Reservations are strongly recommended, especially on weekends, since this is one of the more popular tables on the Strip. Book online or call ahead.
