The tallest observation tower in the country, two thrill rides hanging off the top of it, and the only rotating restaurant in Las Vegas. Here’s what’s actually there right now.

At 1,149 feet, this is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States. Taller than the Space Needle, taller than anything else of its kind in the Western Hemisphere except the CN Tower.

The elevator gets you to the 108th floor in about 37 seconds, and yes, your ears will pop. There are two decks: level 108 is indoor and air-conditioned with floor-to-ceiling angled glass, and level 109 is open-air with viewfinders pointed at landmarks.

Also on 108 you’ll find 108 Eats for paninis and ice cream, and 108 Drinks, which is the highest bar in Las Vegas.

Big Shot

The one on the very top. Sixteen riders get strapped into outward-facing seats and shot 160 feet straight up the tower’s mast at 45 mph, from the 921-foot platform to 1,081 feet, and then dropped.

X-Scream

A giant teeter-totter at 866 feet. An open car on a short track tips over the edge of the tower, shoots you 27 feet out past the building headfirst, brakes hard, and leaves you dangling before hauling you back to do it again.

Insanity is gone

The spinning arm that swung riders out over the edge at a 70-degree angle closed in 2023 and has not come back. It’s no longer on The STRAT’s ride lineup, so don’t plan a trip around it.

Big Shot and X-Scream are the two active rides. Both close for high wind, rain, and maintenance, and ride hours are shorter than tower hours, so check the day you go before you buy a package.

This is the one people fly here for. An open-air, controlled free fall from 829 feet, on a guide-wire decelerator system, at speeds over 40 mph. It holds a Guinness World Record as the highest commercial decelerator descent facility on the planet.

You suit up, walk out onto a plank through a window on the 108th floor, and step off. Day, sunset, and night jumps are all available, and it regularly sells out days ahead.

There’s also a SkyJump happy hour, typically Monday to Thursday from 2 to 3pm, at a lower rate. Pricing shifts, so confirm before you book.

Heads up if you’ve been before: the old Roxy’s Diner with the singing servers is gone, replaced by STRAT Café. And the STRAT Café is no longer 24 hours the way it used to be, so check current hours before a late-night run.

ROUGE

The resident production show, staged in the STRAT Theater. An adults-only cabaret built on aerial work, dance, contortion, and physical comedy, and it’s more playful than moody. ID checked at the door.

L.A. Comedy Club

Moved out of the Tower Shops and into a new spot on the main casino floor, next to McCall’s. Nightly stand-up with rotating national headliners rather than a fixed cast.

IKONS OF ROCK

A 70-minute multimedia concert show that runs through the big rock acts in one night. Newer to the lineup, and a decent option if ROUGE isn’t your speed.

If you’re working off an older list, these are done. Celestia, the acrobatic show in the tent, closed. iLuminate, the LED dance show, closed in May 2025.

Terry Fator ended his run here in September 2025, closing out 16 and a half years as a Strip headliner. The Michael Jackson tribute and the smaller comedy-magic acts are gone too.

Lineups here turn over often, so check the current calendar before you buy anything.

Is The STRAT actually on the Strip?

Technically it sits just past the north end of the resort corridor, at the gateway to the Arts District. It’s a real walk from the center-Strip properties, so plan on driving, rideshare, or the Deuce bus. That location is also why the rooms and the casino run cheaper than what you’ll find at Bellagio or Caesars.

What’s the best time to go up?

Roughly 30 to 60 minutes before sunset. You’ll get daylight, sunset, and the neon all in one visit. Check the forecast first, because wind and weather can close the outdoor deck and both rides.

Do rides come with tower admission?

No. Tower admission gets you the observation decks. Rides are add-on tickets or combo packages, and SkyJump is priced entirely separately.

Nevada residents often get discounted or complimentary tower admission, so bring your ID.

Can kids do this?

The observation decks have no age limit, though children under 14 need an adult with them.

Big Shot requires 48 inches and X-Scream requires 52 inches, with riders under 16 needing a parent or guardian. SkyJump starts at 14, and you must be 21 with ID to drink at 108 Drinks.

How long should I budget?

One to two hours for the decks and a ride or two. Add another two hours if you’re doing dinner at Top of the World, and build in extra time for the elevator line on busy nights and holiday weekends.
