I still remember the first time I brought an out of town friend through the Flamingo and out into the gardens, and watched her stop mid sentence when she spotted the flamingos. Growing up here, I sometimes forget that a free wildlife habitat in the middle of a casino resort is not a normal thing, but it really is one of my favorite quiet spots on the Strip. A Free Garden Oasis Inside a Casino Resort
The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat is a free outdoor garden tucked into the Flamingo Las Vegas resort, just off the Strip. It sits in the outdoor space behind the casino, between the main resort and the pool and wedding garden areas, and it is open to anyone, whether you are staying at the hotel or not. With streams, waterfalls, palm trees, and winding paths, it feels like a completely different world from the casino floor just steps away.
Flamingos, Pelicans, and More
The stars are the Chilean flamingos that give the habitat its name, but they are not the only residents. You will also find ducks, koi, turtles, and a rescued pelican sharing the ponds and gardens. Staff manage the animals’ diets and care, so please do not feed or touch them, just enjoy watching them go about their day.
Location, Hours, and Getting In
You will find the habitat at the Flamingo Las Vegas, 3555 S Las Vegas Blvd, accessible from the casino floor, hotel lobby, or pool area. It is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., admission is free, and you do not need a ticket or reservation of any kind. Just walk in through the resort and follow the signs toward the gardens.
Go Early, and Catch the Keeper Talk
I always recommend going early in the morning, when the Strip heat has not kicked in yet and the crowds are lighter. If you can, time your visit around 10 a.m., when the wildlife keepers are on hand for a free talk and will happily answer questions about the flamingos and their neighbors.
