Homes for Sale in Alta Mira
An established, easygoing single family neighborhood in the northwest valley near Centennial Hills, where the homes have had decades to settle in and the streets stay quiet.
What Alta Mira Is Actually Like
The short version, then the details.
Alta Mira is an established northwest neighborhood, the kind of quiet, settled pocket that a lot of buyers are actually looking for once the newness wears off.
Most of it went up in the first half of the 1990s, so the trees are grown and the streets feel lived in. It sits just south of the Los Prados area and reads as part of the wider Centennial Hills side of the valley.
I’ve been in Las Vegas since I was five, and neighborhoods like this are easy to overlook and easy to like. You’re close to parks and everyday errands, without the price or the pace of the newer communities up the road.
It’s known to some people as Rancho Alta Mira, and it’s a straightforward single family neighborhood rather than a big amenity driven master plan, which for a lot of buyers is exactly the point.
What’s Right Outside the Door
The everyday things are close, which is half the point of living here.
Neighborhood Parks
Alta Mira sits near neighborhood parks and open space, easy to reach for a walk or a weekend outside.
Public Library
A public library branch is close by, one of the small conveniences that makes an established neighborhood feel complete.
Everyday Shopping
Grocery stores and everyday retail along the nearby corridors put your weekly errands a few minutes from home.
Northwest Access
You’re near the Centennial Hills side of the valley, with the 95 and the northwest corridors close for getting around.
The trade people make to be here: Alta Mira is not a master plan and it isn’t trying to be. You give up the newest construction and the big amenity package, and in exchange you get an established, quiet, single family neighborhood close to the everyday things.
The Homes
Established single family homes, mostly from the early to mid 1990s.
This is a settled neighborhood, so the homes here come with the character and the considerations of their era.
Expect single family homes on moderate lots, in the styles common when the area was built. Some have been fully updated over the years and some are closer to original, which is where a walk through matters most.
On homes of this vintage, the systems are what matter most. Roofs, water heaters, and HVAC all have a lifespan, so ask what year the specific home was built and what has been updated. See what’s on the market right now.

How It Compares
Swipe through the areas buyers usually weigh against this one.
Centennial Hills
The newer area up the northwest. Centennial Hills gives you newer homes. Alta Mira gives you an established, closer in neighborhood at an easier entry point.
Los Prados
The gated, golf oriented community just north. Los Prados is the amenity and gate option. Alta Mira is the plainer, open neighborhood next door.
Woodcrest
Another established northwest pocket a bit to the south. Similar idea, different streets and vintage. Often just a question of which one has the right home when you’re looking.
Summerlin
The master plan to the west, with the amenities and the price to match. Alta Mira is the low key alternative for buyers who want the northwest without the master plan.

None of that makes one better. It makes them different, and I’m happy to walk you through more than one so you can judge in person rather than from photos.
Alta Mira is an easy neighborhood to overlook and an easy one to like. Established, quiet, close to the everyday things, and without the price of the newer communities up the road.

Check the vintage against the systems
Most homes here date to the 1990s, which puts them in the window where roofs, water heaters, and HVAC come due. Some have been fully renovated and some haven’t, so ask what year the specific home was built and what has been updated.
Ask about the HOA
Some parts of the area carry an HOA and others do not. Because it varies and changes over time, I’d want to pull the current figures for the specific home rather than quote a general number.
Alta Mira and Rancho Alta Mira
The neighborhood is sometimes listed under Rancho Alta Mira. They refer to the same general area, so don’t let the two names throw you when you’re searching.
Drive the commute honestly
The northwest corridors and the 95 make getting around workable from here. Still, drive your actual route at your actual time of day before you commit.
Is there new construction?
Essentially no. Alta Mira is established and built out, so nearly everything is resale. If new construction is your requirement, the newer parts of Centennial Hills are the closer option.
What about schools?
School attendance zones and ratings change, and they can differ by address even inside one neighborhood. I’d encourage you to verify current zoning and ratings directly with the district for any home you’re serious about.
