Desert Shores is a private community that consists of 27 individual communities, each of which with their own uniqueness. The area is full of greenery, has four beautiful lakes, recreation areas, and several of the developments are gated.
The Desert Shores Lakes
The Desert Shores community is built around four lakes, which make up close to one-tenth of community. Green Belts surround all four lakes and the lakes were built with the intention of looking like natural lakes.
All of the lakes have public access from various key spots, including the Community Center, which is located on Lake Jacqueline. The community consists of the largest single xeriscaping project in the Las Vegas area.
Lake Jacqueline, the largest lake in Desert Shores is slightly over one mile long and covers 24.8 acres. There are three other lakes; Lake Maddison, Lake Sarah and Lake Lindsey, each of which are about half the size of Lake Jacqueline. The lakes include community docks for fishing and paddle boating is available on each lake.
The clubhouse and lagoon located on Lake Jacqueline is frequently used for community events and private parties.

Desert Shores has been voted one of the hottest neighborhoods in the country. The community ranked number 5 out of 105 neighborhoods in 21 different cities. The high ranking was due to the short commutes, affordability, scenic community parks and the school rankings.
There are approximately 3500 homes located throughout the neighborhoods, with a population of 62,940, and the median age is 37. The community is family oriented, and approximately 46 percent of the households have children. The median household income for the area is $70,665 and the estimated travel time to work is 25 minutes.
The homes are in the 89128 zip code area of Las Vegas. Along with its beautiful waterfront and the friendly neighbors, the homes in the community are designed with a modern Spanish style that includes pastel stucco and red tile roofs.
The entire community is extremely lush and green, and many of the larger homes have swimming pools. Most of the homes are single-family residences; however, there are few townhomes located in the gated, Desert Shores Racquet Club and a small complex of condos that are located near the edge of the community.
Real estate is only available by resale and many of the homes feature lake frontage. The home choices range from one bedroom condos to estate style homes with six bedrooms, and there is a property here to suit any buyer. The Desert Shores home values range from $200,000s range for a single-family, non-waterfront home to high end, full-size waterfront homes that are valued in the million dollar range. The top priced properties offer a wide range of amenities, such as private pools, private docks, marble floors, vaulted ceilings and balconies that provide you with a mountain view.
The townhomes are located in a gated community, which provides the residents with a feeling of being in their own separate, yet joined community. The size of the townhouses range from one bedroom to 3 bedroom, each has a stunning view of the mountains and/or the greenery that surrounds the lake community. The townhomes are also home to many families with children as well as single or elderly residents, so there is something for everyone available here.
Many of the free-standing homes are water-front properties; however, even the homes that are not directly located on the water have an excellent view of the lakes, lagoon and/or the mountains. All of the homes in the community are surrounding with cleanliness and lush greenery. The community is extremely well-maintained, and the properties are all kept up, showing the proudness of the residents.
There is always a right time as far as the weather goes, but some months seem like the weather offers a dose of perfection. The highest average temperature in July is about 93.6 degrees, which is perfect for reading a book, while lounging next to one of the four lakes in Desert Shores. Even the winters are mild, with the coldest average temperature in December being about 45.4 degrees. February is the month with the most precipitation of about 0.8 inches.

Shopping in Desert Shores
Along with the array of excellent shopping options available at the Lakeside Center, residents are only a hop and skip away from hundreds of shopping options in Summerlin as well as the Las Vegas Strip. Summerlin, which is only about 2 minutes from this neighborhood, has several quaint boutique shops as well as a mall, which includes a Macy’s, Dillards and 125 other shops and restaurants.
The residents of Desert Shores tend to be active, and proud of their community. The background of Desert Shores would make an amazing backdrop for any picture. As residents step outside their door, they can look to the west and see the breathtaking view of Red Rock Mountains.
The expansive mountains have an elevation of 11,918 feet and within an hour and a half you could be at the top of this majestic peak.
As a resident, you can quickly go from the desert elevation of 2000 to the peak of a mountain or you can simply walk a few feet, grab a lounge chair and relax next to the lagoon that makes you feel as though you truly are in an oasis in the desert.
The man-made lakes are stocked with fish, so the residents can spend the afternoon fishing. If you prefer to feel the waves of the lake beneath you, boating is also permitted on the lakes or you can spend the day entertaining friends and family with a picnic and a hike along the trails.

The 2,100 square foot Clubhouse is available for residents to rent. You can rent up to 3 months before the event. Only those with a Community Association Membership Photo ID Card will be permitted to place a reservation. The banquet room holds up to 100 and provides a kitchen for your convenience.

Desert Shores Location and Map
Desert Shores Las Vegas is located in the near the foothills of northwest Las Vegas and bordered on two sides by the town of Summerlin. Desert Shores is about 30 minutes from downtown Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Strip, yet the community feels as though you are living in your own desert oasis, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet close enough to have access to amenities available in the city.
