Desert Shores was developed in 1988 by RA Homes and was transitioned to a homeowner controlled community in 1992. The area is known for is beautiful, tall Palm Trees.
The Desert Shores Lakes
The Desert Shores community is built around four lakes, which make up close to one-tenth of community. Green Belts surround all four lakes and the lakes were built with the intention of looking like natural lakes.
All of the lakes have public access from various key spots, including the Community Center, which is located on Lake Jacqueline. The community consists of the largest single xeriscaping project in the Las Vegas area.
Lake Jacqueline, the largest lake in Desert Shores is slightly over one mile long and covers 24.8 acres. There are three other lakes; Lake Maddison, Lake Sarah and Lake Lindsey, each of which are about half the size of Lake Jacqueline. The lakes include community docks for fishing and paddle boating is available on each lake.
The clubhouse and lagoon located on Lake Jacqueline is frequently used for community events and private parties.

There is always a right time as far as the weather goes, but some months seem like the weather offers a dose of perfection. The highest average temperature in July is about 93.6 degrees, which is perfect for reading a book, while lounging next to one of the four lakes in Desert Shores. Even the winters are mild, with the coldest average temperature in December being about 45.4 degrees. February is the month with the most precipitation of about 0.8 inches.

Shopping in Desert Shores
Along with the array of excellent shopping options available at the Lakeside Center, residents are only a hop and skip away from hundreds of shopping options in Summerlin as well as the Las Vegas Strip. Summerlin, which is only about 2 minutes from this neighborhood, has several quaint boutique shops as well as a mall, which includes a Macy’s, Dillards and 125 other shops and restaurants.
The residents of Desert Shores tend to be active, and proud of their community. The background of Desert Shores would make an amazing backdrop for any picture. As residents step outside their door, they can look to the west and see the breathtaking view of Red Rock Mountains.
The expansive mountains have an elevation of 11,918 feet and within an hour and a half you could be at the top of this majestic peak.

The 2,100 square foot Clubhouse is available for residents to rent. You can rent up to 3 months before the event. Only those with a Community Association Membership Photo ID Card will be permitted to place a reservation. The banquet room holds up to 100 and provides a kitchen for your convenience.
