Downtown Summerlin Shopping, Dining and Events
The open-air center on the west side of the valley, with shops, restaurants, a ballpark, an ice arena, and the parades and concerts I grew up going to. Here is my local rundown.
What Downtown Summerlin Is
The short version, then the details.
It is a walkable, open-air shopping and entertainment district in the heart of the Summerlin master plan, not an enclosed mall.
Downtown Summerlin opened in October 2014 and sits at the base of the Spring Mountains on the far west side of the valley, right off the 215 Beltway at Sahara. Instead of one big building, it is laid out like a set of city streets you stroll, with tree-lined sidewalks, courtyards, and something like four hundred palm trees. There are more than a hundred and twenty-five shops, bars, and restaurants, a movie theater, a ballpark, and an ice arena all within a few blocks of each other. Parking is free, and there is a lot of it.
What I like about it is that it works for a quick errand or a whole afternoon. You can grab groceries at Whole Foods, do some real shopping, catch a ballgame, and have dinner without ever moving your car.

Department-store anchors, national names, and a growing list of first-to-Vegas shops.
The center is anchored by Macy’s and Dillard’s, with Nordstrom Rack for the deal hunters and a full Whole Foods Market for groceries. Around them is a mix of beauty, fashion, and lifestyle stores, and the roster keeps expanding, including several brands opening their first location off the Strip.

Newer and coming soon: the center has been adding a Starbucks drive-thru, Paris Baguette, POP MART, Roche Bobois, BYLT Premium Basics, Skin Laundry, and a Municipal gym powered by EoS Fitness. Store lineups change, so check the center’s directory before a special trip.
Where to Eat
Sit-down patios, fast-casual, and coffee, most of it walkable from the center of the district.
Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill
The celebrity chef’s approachable spot for pizzas, pastas, and a full bar.
Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar
A big, comfortable menu and a dog-friendly patio, popular with just about everyone.
Public School 702
A gastropub with a rotating craft-beer list, named for the Las Vegas area code.

Events Through the Year
Downtown Summerlin leans into its parades and seasons.
The calendar fills up, especially around the holidays. Dates shift year to year, so confirm the current schedule before you go, but here is what tends to come around.
Good to know: the holiday parade turns the main streets into a full production with floats, marching bands, and a tree lighting, and it draws a big crowd. Come early for parking and a good spot along the route.
The Homes Around Downtown Summerlin
This is one of the most sought-after places to live in the valley, and the shopping is a big reason why.
Downtown Summerlin sits inside the larger Summerlin master plan, a collection of villages that runs up against Red Rock Canyon. Being able to walk or drive a few minutes to shops, dining, a ballgame, and trails is exactly what draws people to this side of town. If you want to be near all of it, there are neighborhoods for almost every stage of life close by.

Is Downtown Summerlin an indoor mall?
No. It is an open-air center laid out like a set of walkable streets, so you are outdoors as you move between shops. In summer that means early mornings and evenings are the most comfortable times to stroll, and there is shade and misting in spots.
Where is Downtown Summerlin and is parking free?
It is on the west side of the valley at 1980 Festival Plaza Drive, just off the 215 Beltway near Sahara Avenue. Parking is free, with surface lots and garages totaling about 6,400 spaces.
What is there to do besides shopping?
Quite a bit. You can catch a Las Vegas Aviators Triple-A baseball game at Las Vegas Ballpark, skate or watch a Golden Knights practice at City National Arena, see a movie at Regal Cinemas, and, in season, ice skate at the Rock Rink or catch one of the parades and concerts.
What stores and restaurants are at Downtown Summerlin?
