People move to Las Vegas picturing nonstop neon and casino floors, and then they discover the thing nobody puts in the brochure: this is a fantastic movie town.
I’ve lived here for years, and going to the movies is still one of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon that has nothing to do with the Strip. A cold, dark auditorium in the middle of a 110-degree July? That’s not a night out. That’s survival with a bucket of popcorn.
What surprises most newcomers is how many good theaters we have, and how good they’ve gotten. Reclining leather seats, laser projection, IMAX screens that go floor to ceiling, full bars, dine-in menus. The valley quietly became a place where the theater itself is part of the fun.
So whether you just landed here, you’re visiting and want a break from the crowds, or you’ve lived here a while and haven’t checked out what’s new, here’s my honest rundown of where to catch a movie in Las Vegas right now.
A Quick Note on What’s Changed
If you’ve searched for Las Vegas theaters before, you may have run into old listings for places that no longer exist. The movie business has shuffled a lot in the last few years.
A few longtime spots have closed for good. The Regal at Village Square on West Sahara went dark and the building is being redeveloped. The Regal Colonnade in Henderson closed as well. And the beloved discount house Tropicana Cinemas on East Tropicana showed its last film in the fall of 2025.
I mention this so you don’t drive across town to a locked door. Everything I’m listing below is a spot I’ve confirmed is still open and running current films. Let’s get into it.
Premium and Luxury Screens Worth the Splurge
Brenden Theatres Palms 14 with IMAX and JBX
If you want the full Vegas movie experience, this is where I send people. The Brenden at the Palms had a big renovation and it shows.
You get an IMAX screen, JBX auditoriums with Dolby Atmos and laser projection, DTS:X immersive sound, and luxury electric recliners. There’s a full bar, a barista bar with real espresso drinks, and an expanded concession stand.
It sits on the west side of the casino floor at the Palms, just off the Strip on West Flamingo. It’s the one I pick when a movie is meant to be seen big and loud.
Regal Red Rock and Regal Summerlin
Out on the west side near Red Rock Resort, the Regal Red Rock is a solid premium option with IMAX and recliner seating. It survived the Regal shakeups and it’s still one of the busier theaters in the valley for a reason.
A little further into Summerlin, the Regal Summerlin at Downtown Summerlin is my go-to when I want to make an evening of it. You can grab dinner, walk the outdoor shops, and catch a film without moving your car. If you live anywhere near Summerlin, this pairing is hard to beat.
Regal Aliante and IMAX
Up in the northwest at Aliante Parkway, this Regal has IMAX and IMAX 3D and tends to be a bit calmer than the west-side theaters on a big opening weekend.
For folks living in the north valley, it’s a genuine convenience. You’re not fighting your way across town for a premium screen.
Reliable Neighborhood Theaters
AMC Rainbow Promenade 10
On North Rainbow near the 95, this AMC is a dependable pick with Signature recliners, reserved seating, laser projection, and a MacGuffins bar if you want a drink with your movie. Discount days midweek make it a friendly option when you’re watching your budget.
AMC Town Square 18
Down at the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard inside the Town Square shopping center, this is a big, busy AMC that’s easy to reach from the airport corridor and the southern suburbs. Plenty of shopping and dining right there if you want to build a bigger outing around it.
Cinemark Century Orleans 18
At the Orleans off Tropicana, this Cinemark is a longtime local favorite. It’s a large multiplex with XD, and being attached to a casino means there’s parking, food, and plenty to do before or after. It’s one of the theaters people kept going to even as others closed.
The Galaxy Theatres Family
Galaxy is a smaller chain, but they’ve become a real presence here, and their luxury recliner setups are genuinely comfortable.
Galaxy Green Valley in Henderson
Over on East Sunset in Henderson, Galaxy Green Valley is known for its luxury recliners and its bar service, so you can enjoy a beer or a glass of wine during the show. It’s a favorite date-night spot on the east side.
Galaxy Cannery in North Las Vegas
At the Cannery on East Craig, this Galaxy location leans into the premium experience with reclining luxury seating and D-BOX motion seats for the action crowd. If you’ve never tried a motion seat during a big blockbuster, it’s a fun splurge.
Galaxy Boulevard Mall
Galaxy also runs a location inside the Boulevard Mall on South Maryland Parkway now, which gives the central part of the valley a solid option that had thinned out for a while.
Theaters Inside the Casinos
A few of our casino resorts have theaters right on property, which is handy if you’re already there or you want the whole night in one place.
Century 16 Suncoast
At the Suncoast in Summerlin on Alta Drive, this Cinemark is a comfortable, well-kept theater with easy parking. It’s a nice pick for the far west side.
Century 16 Santa Fe Station
Up on North Rancho at Santa Fe Station, this is another dependable Cinemark serving the northwest valley.
South Point Movie Theatre
Way down south on Las Vegas Boulevard at the South Point, this theater anchors that end of the valley. If you live in the southern suburbs, it saves you a long drive north.
Regal Boulder Station and Century Sam’s Town
On the east side of the valley, the Regal at Boulder Station and the Century at Sam’s Town both give the Boulder Highway area convenient screens. These are the closest options for a lot of folks on the east and southeast sides.
Something Different: The West Wind Drive-In
If you’ve never seen a movie under the stars, put this on your list.
The West Wind Las Vegas Drive-In on West Carey in North Las Vegas is the real deal, a genuine drive-in with multiple screens showing double and triple features. You tune your car radio to the posted FM frequency, roll the windows down, and settle in.
They’ve added a public market component in recent years, so there’s more going on than just the films. It’s a nostalgic, affordable, wonderfully un-Vegas way to spend an evening, and it’s one of the few drive-ins left in the region. I take out-of-town guests here when I want to show them a side of Las Vegas they’d never expect.
How I Pick a Theater
After years of doing this, here’s my quick mental checklist.
If the movie is a visual spectacle, I go IMAX or a laser-projection premium house like Brenden Palms or Regal Red Rock.
If I want a low-key night close to home, I pick whichever neighborhood AMC, Cinemark, or Galaxy is nearest and grab recliner seats.
If I want the movie to be the whole event, I choose a theater attached to a casino or a shopping center so dinner and the film live in one trip.
And when I want something memorable and a little different, the West Wind Drive-In wins every time.
A Few Practical Tips
Reserved seating is now the norm at most of these theaters, so booking online ahead of time is worth it, especially on opening weekends and holidays.
Nearly all of our theaters are wheelchair accessible, and several offer assisted listening devices, closed captioning, and audio description. If accessibility matters for your group, the theater’s website will spell out exactly what each location provides.
Midweek discount days are common, so if your schedule is flexible, a Tuesday or Wednesday matinee stretches your dollar.
And in the summer, don’t underestimate the theater as a cooling strategy. A matinee is one of the smartest ways to get through the hottest part of a Las Vegas afternoon.

One of the things I love about this valley is how much everyday life happens off the Strip, in the neighborhoods where locals actually live. Great movie theaters are just one small piece of that.
